Theobroma Systems cooperates with Renesas RZ/G2 for
long-term availability of the next-generation computing platforms
Theobroma Systems, a trusted developer and manufacturer of computing platforms for diverse embedded applications, introduces its first single-board computer (SBC) based on the Renesas RZ/G2M: the RZ/G2M-MiniITX.
As an industry pioneer in Europe, Theobroma Systems’ offers a wide spectrum of experience and skills that serve as a trusted foundation for the development of industrial and prosumer devices. Currently, Theobroma Systems offers standard and customized SBC and SOM solutions.
RZ/G2M-MiniITX SBC for industrial applications
The newly announced Renesas-based SBC and SOM products augment the existing module line-up with industry-leading long-term availability.
The scope of the cooperation is to combine the powerful Renesas technology with the exceptional engineering skills of Theobroma Systems in order to solve market challenges such as supported component life cycles that come in the way of computing solutions for long-term projects.
Theobroma Systems currently supports similar high-end solutions and this new SBC is the first from a portfolio of long-term available and supported computing solutions built around the RZ/G2-family that will include both SBC and system-on-module (SOM) solutions.

Furthermore, the cooperation announces Theobroma Systems as the first European company to take on the project of introducing the RZ/G2M-MiniITX as a long-term solution for the industrial market.

The newly announced RZ/G2M-MiniITX and RZ/G2M-SMARC feature the hexa-core RZ/G2M application processor from Renesas. These products use long-term available and industrial-grade LPDDR4 memory from and eMMC from WesternDigital to back the long-term availability promise of the RZ/G2-family processors with an assured supply of memories from trusted sources.
The first product released is the RZ/G2M-MiniITX, a single-board computer in the MiniITX form-factor featuring the RZ/G2M, which is today sampling to lead customers. The adherence to the 170mm x 170mm MiniITX form-factor makes the board a direct replacement to embedded PC platforms, allowing its quick adoption and the reuse of existing rackmount cases and mounting solutions.
The next release will be a SMARC form-factor module, which will bring the advantages of the RZ/G2-family to modular embedded applications.
